Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Juneteenth on the East?

Juneteenth on the East is a vibrant, multi-day celebration of Black freedom, culture, and joy in the heart of Oklahoma City’s Eastside. It honors June 19, 1865 — the day the last enslaved African Americans in the U.S. were freed — through music, art, food, education, and community connection.

When and where does it take place?

This year’s festivities take place from Thursday, June 19 to Saturday, June 21, with the main celebration happening on Saturday, along Northeast 23rd Street between Hood and Rhode Island. Be sure to check the schedule of events for more details.

Is Juneteenth on the East free to attend?

Yes! All Juneteenth on the East events are free and open to the public, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, partners, and community volunteers.

Free and paid parking will be available at nearby lots and public streets. We encourage ride-sharing or carpooling when possible.

We will have 12 ADA-accessible spaces on the side of MID-K on N Rhode Island street. Check in at the barricade at Madison and N Rhode Island to use them.

Please do NOT park in the lots of open businesses serving customers or block access on residential streets.

Will there be seating available?

Limited seating will be available in the kids zone. We recommend bringing lawn chairs or picnic blankets for your comfort for the live music portions of the festival.
